We are sorry to report that we have to stop our RTW project after more than 8,000nm across North America and Canada . The insurance that we understood was in place, to cover our international exposure, was ultimately not issued by the US insurer. Luckily we found this while checking the policy just two days before leaving Canada .

We have now lost nearly 3 weeks unsuccessfully trying to arrange alternate coverage. A continuation of the trip would require dropping sites and shortening our stay in places that we planned to visit. This is unsatisfactory, so we will stop and return to Thailand .

We cannot say whether we will be able to try again.

Although we were not able to accomplish our dream, we have enjoyed and benefitted tremendously from our experiences on this journey. We want to thank the many people from around the world who have followed our trip, encouraged us and helped us in various elements of this adventure.

A few hours after posting the update, we got some good news…….we were granted insurance coverage for Europe !!!!! So we will continue over to Europe next week. This is great………. it does not allow us to continue with the RTW flight entirely but it does give us the opportunity to tour Europe and, who knows, from there we might (just might) be able to extend coverage onward. We will keep you posted on this site.
